Connect: Women
"At the Well"
The name “At the Well” was derived from the two-fold purpose of visiting the well in biblical times.
First, women went to the well to obtain water for their households. As Christians, we understand Jesus to be the “living water” which nourishes our souls. We believe that women’s ministry should assist women to access the living water.
Secondly, women gathered at the well as a hub of community life in the morning or evening. This is why it is significant that the Samaritian woman was alone at the well at midday when Jesus asked for a drink. She was ostracised because of her moral conduct. We see fellowship as an important component of women’s ministry also.
Women's ministry overlaps other ministries in the church, especially small groups and mentoring. We usually hold a social and/or learning event each month which is an opportunity to come and meet others. Information is often placed in the communication pockets or on the information table.
