Connect: Small Groups
Why belong to a small group?
- Because it’s Biblical! – Acts 2:42-47; Hebrews 10:25
- They provide support for when times are tough.
- Healthy discussion about Biblical and topical issues.
- Others can inspire you on your walk with God.
- Accountability!
- There is more intimacy than the
corporate worship service. - It’s the best way to get to know people in the Church.
- An opportunity to exercise your spiritual gifts.
- It assists you to reach out to neighbours and friends
- It’s the best way to nurture new
Christians.
It’s as simple as ABC –
Accountability...Belonging...Care...
Small groups allow us to pursue three vital relationships:
Intimacy with God
God really does desire an intimate relationship with each one of us. The small group allows us to focus in a special way to do this.
Community with those inside the Church
Life change takes place in the context of relationships. We are all part of the ‘Body of Christ’. This means that helping each other to grow is not an option!
Influence with those outside the Church
At LCC we want people to invest in the lives of unbelieving friends and then invite them at the appropriate time to one of the Church environments, whether that is a small group, men’s breakfast or women’s retreat. By investing and inviting, the Kingdom is built.
The best way to do the above is to have a balanced approach. At Lake Community Church we call our groups Holistic Small Groups. This means we aspire to nurture the Heads, Hands and Hearts of the small group membership.
TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!
At Lake Community Church we realise that some people grow best with people of similar, age,
gender, interests or family structure. As such, we have the try before you buy policy.
We suggest that you attend a small group, attend for around 8 weeks and make a decision
as to whether it’s
the right group for you. If it is, great! If not, then see what else Lake Community Church
has to offer. All the small group leaders are aware of this and won’t be offended! Feeling
at home means a lot to us and that extends to small groups.
What on earth is an “LTG”???
Sometimes you might hear someone talk about LTGs. LTG stands for ‘Life Transformation Groups’. Generally these groups are smaller than the home groups and have about three people in them, of the same gender. They stress accountability and often with a mentoring role. They meet at various times at various places. It could be at home during the day, or at McDonald’s before work.
